How it Started
Unterschall started as a collective, organizing underground Post-Punk and Darkwave Shows in Leipzig, Germany in 2017. Since then we organized several shows with well known artists like, Totenwald, Zarkoff, TRAITRS, Konstantin Unwohl, Neon Lies, Isotropia, Oberst Panizza, Kontravoid, Buzz Kull, Zack Zack Zack and many more.
DIY or Die
During the Pandemic it became more difficult to organize shows and therefore we decided to support the scene with a solitape donating all the profit to NGO Organizations like »stand by me lesbos« where we were able to raise up to 300€ to donate.
This momentum, the change of DIY spaces (physically and immaterial) and projects during the pandemic, lead us to the idea to plan more releases on our own as we enjoyed the process from the musical curation, the communication with the artists, to designing and producing the artwork of the tape and the recording of the tape itself, everything in the spirit of DIY.
How we work
It’s important to support the artists in their own way, of course we are willing to give them feedback if we are asked to do so, but our main goal is to give them the freedom to create the music they are aiming for.
It’s always a small gap in between giving constructive feedback and being a little too pushy.
Since we know about this fact, and we always try to keep that in our minds.
There is always the possibility for us to work together with other DIY-Labels, as long the idea and the goals are kind of the same.
